Cedar Halves

These are two pieces of custom milled old growth cedar from Washington State. Here we can see the two halves of the column prior to preparation for carving. The wood generally needs to be cured for some time before installing inside.

After Installation

The sections were installed around a 4" steel support column. The Story Column gives the appearance of one solid piece of wood supporting the timber above. More images of this column can be seen in the Architectural Installations gallery.
